Sein Gitarrenspiel ist feurig wie eh und je - selbst bei Stücken wie "Spanish Boots", bei denen die Begleitband nicht in der Lage ist, einen Groove zu halten. Der Höhepunkt des Albums ist "Plynth (Water Down The Drain)", ein seltsam ungelöstes Blues-Metal-Riff-a-thon, das an das schwere Rhythmus-Spiel der Stones in dieser Ära erinnert. Nicky Hopkins spielt auf der gesamten Scheibe Keyboards und steuert sogar ein fast solistisches Instrumentalstück bei ("Girl From Mill Valley").
Das Album Nr. 2, "Beck-Ola" betitelt, knüpfte ein Jahr nach "Truth" nahtlos an. Das Quintett wandelt hier Rock’n’Roll-Klassiker wie "All Shook Up" und "Jailhouse Rock" in schwerblütige Groove-Nummern um, fegt hart rockend durch eigene Stücke wie "Plynth" oder "Spanish Boots" und offeriert als schwebenden Ruhepunkt das balladeske Instrumental "Girl From Mill Valley".
