Genesis' best and Analogue Productions' best Genesis SACD remastering
This is a splendid remasterig of the original LP, which I happen to own as well. On the other Analogue Productions' remasterings of Genesis (Nursery Crime, Selling England b.t.L) there were some tape and mixing artefacts taken as recovery information that bother the loud listener and force the my amps to give more than 600 Watts, but here, on Foxtrot, the sound is absolutely perfect and 250 Watts suffice for chasing all neighbours into the New Jerusalem, wow! Regarding the music, this is Genesis' absolute peak of creativity, just because of the second side of the record. (One correction to the announcement text: "Supper's Ready" is not 27 minutes long! Just 23! Even if you add the instrumental "Horizons" that preceeds it on the second side, it remains under 25 minutes.) It took mankind over a century to understand Beethoven's best symphony, the Eroica; Beethoven never left any doubt that this is his greatest, and after Rene Leibowitz' recording, every born musician can witness this due to the Chesky brothers perfect CD mastering of this recording (I also have the holiest of the LP versions). Less than a century has passed since "Supper's Ready", which is for the pop music of the second millenium what the Eroica is for the First Viennese School (Wiener Klassik). Thus, we ought to leave its review to the future generations. "Worueber man nicht sprechen kann, davon muss man schweigen." wrote Wittgenstein.
