The Troggs were among the best-loved hit makers of the Swinging Sixties. With charismatic vocalist Reg Presley at the helm, the group unleashed ‘Wild Thing’, a dynamic performance that inspired Jimi Hendrix and proved a world wide smash. However, the group were no ‘One Hit Wonders’. They released a flow of classic songs, like the chart topping ‘With A Girl Like You’ and the raunchy ‘I Can’t Control Myself’. All these hits and many more are included on Repertoire’s superb 3-CD package that fully explores The Troggs’ remarkable output. CD 1 has 29 tracks, recorded between 1966-1969. As well as familiar A-sides ‘With A Girl Like You’, ‘Anyway That You Want Me’ and ‘Love Is All Around’, there are such fascinating B-sides as ‘The Yella In Me’ and ‘Gonna Make You’ that unveil hidden gems. CD 2 includes 26 tracks covering the years 1969-1975 with more Reg Presley originals ranged against ‘covers’ like ‘Good Vibrations’, ‘Memphis Tennessee’ and ‘Peggy Sue’. CD 3 features 15 cuts from the 70s and 80s, as well as nine bonus items - including a rare 1965 single by pre-Troggs outfit Teen Feet Five and solo releases by Ronnie Bond and Reg Presley. Always fun and entertaining, The Troggs encapsulated the spirit of pop. This is their legacy.
