Es sollte eines der letzten Konzerte einer legendären Band werden: Thin Lizzy – das Trio aus Dublin – brachte 1981 im Rahmen des Rockpalast das Publikum auf der Loreley zum Brodeln. Ein Rocklexikon schwärmte damals von dem »Träumer, Krieger, Liebenden, Geschichtenfabulierer, Friedensbringer und Rocklegionär« Phil Lynott. Der charismatische Bassist, Sänger und Komponist hatte 1969 zusammen mit Eric Bell und Brian Downey die Hardrock / Rhythm & Blues-Band gegründet. 14 Jahre später löste er sie dann nach ständigem Wechsel der Gitarristen wieder auf.
