Wie seine beiden Vorgänger - »Black Byrd« und »Street Lady« - war »Stepping Into Tomorrow« ein Verkaufsschlager, der auch von der Jazzkritik gefeiert wurde und später Acid-Jazz-Künstlern wie Us3 als schier unerschöpfliche Sample-Quelle dienen sollte.
