SACD MFSL us vs SACD SMEJ jp
Hello everyone,
After carefully listening to the Mobile Fidelity UDSACD2085 SACD and the Japanese SMEJ SICP-10083 SACD, it's difficult to say which is superior to the other. The two albums are very different, and I enjoy them both! The SMEJ offers a much more dynamic and crystal-clear sound. The drums are distinct and present, less muffled than on the Mofi, although the bass is very pronounced, almost annoying, to the point of slightly drowning out the music. The saxophone and trumpet fill the space, while Bill's piano is extraordinary.
The Mofi, on the other hand, offers a more muted sound, giving the impression of a veil of sound coming out of the speakers. However, it remains a high-quality and very consistent sound. I had to turn up the volume to reach the same level as the SMEJ. The resonance is more subtle, and the sound seems to be more distant.
In conclusion, if I had to choose only one of the two, I would choose the Japanese SACD SMEJ for its sonic dynamics and the pronounced presence of the orchestra. Thank you for reading.
