Mozarts Don Giovanni unter dem Dirigat von Placido Domingo
»Don Giovanni«-Mitschnitte sind nichts Neues auf dem DVD-/Blu-ray-Markt, doch so etwas gab es noch nie: Zum ersten Mal ist Mozarts vielleicht bekannteste Oper auf Blu-ray Disc an der Stätte ihrer Uraufführung zu sehen: Das Nationaltheater in Prag bildete 1787 bereits die Kulisse für die allererste Aufführung von Mozarts »Don Giovanni«.
Für diesen besonderen Anlass konnte niemand Geringerer als Oscar-Gewinner Theodor Pištek gewonnen werden, dessen Bühnenbild und Kostüme für die »Don Giovanni«-Szene aus dem Film »Amadeus« weltbekannt wurden. Die Produktion setzt zudem auf frische, unverbrauchte Stimmen, die von Weltstar Placído Domingo persönlich für diese Aufführung ausgewählt wurden. Domingo selbst übernahm für diesen Abend den Posten als Dirigent. Regisseur Jiří Nekvasil orientierte sich, wo möglich, indessen penibel an den überlieferten Regieanweisungen der Uraufführung von 1787, sodass mit dieser Produktion ein bislang nicht gekannter Grad an Authentizität erreicht werden konnte.
