Weltersteinspielung von Leonardo Leos Händel-Pasticcio
Präsentiert vom Opernfestival Valle d’Itria ist dies die erste neuzeitliche Bühnen-Aufführung und somit die DVD-/Blu-ray-Weltpremiere von Leonardo Leos Einrichtung von Georg Friedrich Händels berühmter Oper Rinaldo. Leo verpasste Händels Oper einen mediterranen Anstrich, doch die Partitur ging verloren und wurde erst vor wenigen Jahren wiederentdeckt.
Die Geschichte des Stücks in dieser Fassung ist faszinierend: Der Kastrat Nicolò Grimaldi, der das Werk in London aufgeführt hatte, schmuggelte Händels Partitur auf illegalem Wege nach Neapel. Einmal dort angekommen geriet das Werk in die Hände regionaler Komponisten, darunter auch Leonardo Leo. Er richtete das Stück nach dem Geschmack des neapolitanischen Publikums ein, fügte Intermezzi und ganze Charakterrollen neu hinzu.
Regisseur Giorgio Sangati hat Leos Bearbeitung in eine »Ba-Rock«-Oper verwandelt, der Konflikt zwischen Türken und Christen wird bei ihm zu einer Auseinandersetzung zwischen Pop-Sternchen und Hardrock-Stars. Beide Fraktionen repräsentieren unterschiedliche Ansichten zu Leben und Liebe.
Fabio Luisi und das auf Barockoper spezialisierte Ensemble La Scintilla sind hervorragende Interpreten dieser außergewöhnlichen Fassung von einer von Händels bekanntesten Opern.
