Produziert von Andrew Wells (Halsey, Phoebe Bridgers), ist das sechste Studioalbum der Band der Inbegriff dessen, was sie am besten können: von den 60er Jahren inspirierter, klassischer Gitarrenpop, gefiltert durch New Wave, mit gleichen Teilen Euphorie und Melancholie. Zusammen mit der Ankündigung teilt die Band ihre hymnische neue Single »Heartbreak Kid«, ein sofortiger Vaccines-Klassiker, der bei einer geheimen Show in London Anfang des Jahres erstmals vorgestellt wurde.
»Pick-Up Full of Pink Carnations« ist ein Album mit 10 neuen Songs voller Hooks, Melodien und Pop-Smartness, das vor Spaß nur so trieft und gleichzeitig erforscht, wie das wahre Leben uns im Stich lässt. Der Titel des Albums stammt von einem falsch erinnerten Text aus Don McLeans »American Pie«, einem Lied, das für Young den Tod der Unschuld und den amerikanischen Traum treffend beschwört.
The Vaccines, die Fackelträger der britischen Gitarrenmusik, wurden 2010 in West-London gegründet. Sie haben fünf britische Top-5-Alben veröffentlicht, darunter ihr Debüt »What Did You Expect from the Vaccines?«, das mit Platin ausgezeichnet wurde und das meistverkaufte Debütalbum des Jahres 2011 war.
