Lovin’ Spoonful war eine amerikanische Rockband mit Wurzeln in der Folk-Musikszene, die in Greenwich Village in Lower Manhattan angesiedelt war. Frontmann John Sebastian ist auch bekannt für seinen spontanen Auftritt beim Woodstock Festival 1969.
Daydream war ihr zweites Album, das 1966 erstmals veröffentlicht wurde und zwei Hits enthielt, den gleichnamigen Titelsong, der auf Platz 2 der US- und UK-Charts landete, und You didn't have to be so nice (USA Nr. 10).
