Obendrein entstand das Album in Zusammenarbeit mit dem National Orchestra for Oriental Arabic Music und brachte somit völlig neue Komponenten ins Spiel. Auch Plastic Beach wurde ein typischer Gorillaz-Smash: Platz 2 im UK und in den USA, Platz 3 in den deutschen Charts.
