S. F. Sorrow wurde erstmalig im Herbst 1968 veröffentlicht und galt als der Durchbruch für die knallharten britischen R&B Pioniere. Das Album wurde als erste Rock-Oper gefeiert und wurde 6 Monate vor dem legendären ,,Tommy" Album von The Who veröffentlicht.
Basierend auf einer Geschichte von Leadsänger Phil May, erzählen die Songs des Albums das Leben von Sebastian F. Sorrow, von der Geburt an über die Liebe, Krieg, Tragödie und den Tod.
Das Original-Album wurde in den Abbey Road Studios aufgenommen, wurde nun digital Remastered und erscheint nun in der großartigen Gestanzten Digisleeve-Verpackung der amerikanischen Album-Cover Version.
Ein echter Flower Power- Klassiker der Psychedelic Ära, den nicht nur jeder Fan der Band haben sollte.
Übrigens sind die Pretty Things eine der ältesten noch aktiven englischen Rockbands und glänzten mit exzessiven Bühnenshows, wildem rohen Rhythm snd Blues und einem (gespielten) finsteren lmage. Damals wie heute mit den Gründungsmitgliedern Phil May und Dick Taylor (Ex-Rolling Stones). Hammerscheibe !!

First released in the autumn of 1968, ‘S. F.Sorrow’ was a great leap forward by the hard hitting British R&B pioneers. Hailed as the first rock opera, the record came out six months before the Who’s ‘Tommy’. Based on a story by lead singer Phil May, the song cycle tells the tale of Sebastian F. Sorrow, from birth through love, war, tragedy and death. The original album was recorded at Abbey Road studios and this CD version is digitally remastered and presented in a superb new reproduction of the American cover, in die-cut Digisleeve format. Don’t miss this classic of the psychedelic era that remains one of the band’s proudest achievements.
