The SACD uses a higher digital resolution than the audio CD and also offers the possibility to store multi-channel sound (surround sound). To enjoy the music in high-end quality, a special SACD player is required. Thanks to the hybrid function, most of the products marked "SACD" in our store can also be played on conventional CD players. In this case, however, the sound does not differ from that of a normal CD. In case of deviations, we point this out separately (non-hybrid).

1984 war es Zeit für das erste Live-Album der Dire Straits. Nachdem sich herausstellte, dass die Mitschnitte der großen Love-Over-Gold-Tournee allesamt unbrauchbar für eine Veröffentlichung waren, mietete die Band kurzerhand das Londoner Hammersmith Odeon am 22. und 23. Juli 1983 sowie die mobile Aufnahmetechnik der Rolling Stones. Den Mitschnitt verantwortete Mike McKenna, als Tonmeister wurde Nigel Walker eingesetzt. Das Set besteht aus den bekanntesten und beliebtesten Songs ihrer ersten vier Alben, einer EP sowie dem Soundtrack zum Film "Local Heroes". Auch wenn die Musik der Dire Straits kein Arena-Rock-Gefühl aufkommen lassen, feiert das Publikum die Songs unbändig, spendet großzügigen Applaus und singt mit, wo immer es geht. »Alchemy« ist ein atmosphärisches Live-Album mit den Hits der ersten vier Alben der Band.
