Die 14 Songs auf Legend machen deutlich, warum Marley zum internationalen Superstar aufstieg. Der Mann verschmolz starke Hooks, geradlinige Aufrichtigkeit und Reggae-Riddims zu einem der einnehmendsten Popsongs überhaupt.
Da gibt es das treibende "Could You Be Loved", das revolutionäre "Get Up Stand Up", das er mit Peter Tosh schrieb, und die dylaneske Hymne "Redemption Song". Die Hitparade rollt weiter mit Marley-Klassikern wie "No Woman No Cry", "I Shot the Sheriff" und dem schmerzhaften Liebeslied "Waiting in Vain". Wie Marley selbst sind diese Songs wirklich charismatisch. Diese Scheibe fängt das Beste von Bob ein. Und das ist so ziemlich das Beste, was es gibt.
