Das Zawinul Syndicate war eine Jazz-Fusion-Band, die 1988 vom österreichischen Keyboarder Joe Zawinul gegründet wurde. Mit seinem selbstbetitelten Album aus dem Jahr 1970 hat sich Zawinul an vorderster Front des modernen Jazz positioniert.
Später im selben Jahr gründete Zawinul mit Wayne Shorter und Miroslav Vitous die Jazz- Supergruppe Weather Report. Das erste Album des Zawinul Syndicates von 1988, The Immigrants, spielten Abraham Laboriel (Bass), Cornell Rochester (Schlagzeug) und Scott Henderson (Gitarre) ein.
Dieses Album besteht aus eleganten, brillanten Kombinationen von Post-Fusion, Synthys, Klangtexturen und Pop-Vocals.
