Gustav Holsts »At the Boar’s Head« lässt sich mit Hollywood-Filmen wie »Der 13te Krieger« vergleichen: hervorragendes Werk, aber Fiasko an der (Kino-)Kasse.
Das Publikum mochte es nicht, dass der Komponist hier eine andere Tonsprache verwendet als in seinen »Die Planeten«.
Nun liegt die Oper erstmals in einer Einspielung der Gesamtpartitur, gekoppelt mit Vaughan Willliams‘ Riders to the Sea, auf DUX vor.
