Ganz großer Händel

Händels 1749 uraufgeführtes Oratorium Susanna gehört zu den Raritäten im Konzertsaal, dabei besticht es durch eine souveräne Beherrschung aller gängigen Schreibweisen: Der feierlich-pathetische, aber auch tänzerische französische Stil, die polyphonen Künste der deutschen Tradition, die konzertanten Aspekte der italienischen Musik sowie die englische Chortradition der Anthems Purcellscher Prägung sind hier zu einer ganz eigenen europäischen Synthese verschmolzen. Nach der Theodora bei den Festspielen 2015 steht mit Susanna erneut eine der eindrucksvollen Händelschen Frauenfiguren im Mittelpunkt des Mitschnitts von den Göttinger Händelfestspielen.
