stereoplay 06/09: »Richard Crofts weicher Tenor zeichnet Idomeneo als anrührend-labilen Anti-Helden, während Bernarda Fink als Idamante von der ersten Arie an alle Qualitäten des künftigen Königs spüren lässt. Das helle, jugendliche Sopran-Timbre von Sunhae Im als Ilia atmet Unschuld und Opferbereitschaft, während die Elettra von Alexandrina Pendatchanska in ihrer kalten und düsteren Strenge alle Abgründe der Rolle bloßlegt. René Jacobs hat die Musik so komplett eingespielt, wie sie Mozart ursprünglich konzipiert hatte. Grundlage bildete dabei eine eigens für diese Produktion vom Bärenreiter-Verlag erstellte Partitur, unter Berücksichtigung aller autographen Quellen. Auch deswegen setzt dieser (sogar aufnahmetechnisch rundum großartige) Idomeneo einen Maßstab, der wohl so schnell nicht mehr überboten werden kann und wird.«
