The definitive Norma

This performance Norma was one of the most celebrated performances at La Scala during the 50ths. Callas as Norma are divine, from Casta Diva through the finales, Norma are portraid as a warrior woman and friend.
Perhaps the strongest moments comes at the end, the In mia man duet are filled with hatred. During the last few minutes of the opera, the orchestra sings on their instruments. A divine moment.

unvergleichliche Tondokumente

Die Norma war die Paraderolle von Maria Callas, in der sie alle Fassetten ihres Könnens zeigen konnte. Ein Muss nicht nur für die Callas-Bewunderer, weil der Faszination der Callas sich niemand entziehen kann. Mario del Monaco war der einzige Partner, der der Stimme der Callas gewachsen war, wie beide Aufnahmen (Rom und Mailand) mit Leichtigkeit beweisen. Ausdrucksvoll und mit stimmlicher Schönheit stellt er sämtliche Konkurrenz in den Schatten. Die Aufnahme aus Rom ist technisch etwas präsenter, aber bei der Aufnahme aus Mailand sind die Duette von Maria Callas mit ihrer Lieblingspartnerin Giulietta Simionato von unvergleichlichem Schmelz. Beide Aufnahmen sind für jeden Opernfan unverzichtbar. Solche Stimmen wird die Opernbühne wahrscheinlich niemals wieder erleben.

Die beste Callas Norma

Aus 1955 sind 2 live Norma Aufnahmen erhalten geblieben unter Serafin und Votto.
Beide sind Empfehlenswert, aber im Votto Aufnahme ist La Callas im hoechst Form, ihre Interpretation ist einzigartig, leider ist der Aufnahmequalitaet schlecht, aber ich bin Gluecklich Sie zu haben.
