Als junger, ambitionierter Komponist verbrachte Händel die Jahre von 1706 bis 1710 in Italien. In Rom war die Oper derzeit durch päpstliches Dekret „verbannt“, und so komponierte Händel vorwiegend Kantaten – es wurden mehr als 150 Werke. Die vier hier eingespielten Kantaten folgen der Standardbesetzung: Sopran, zwei Violinen und B. c.
