Es gibt wunderbar kontemplative Momente, zupackend Dramatisches, das Tempo ist insgesamt recht hoch. Dieser Zugriff bekommt dem Werk erstaunlich gut.Umso schöner, dass auch die Vokalpartien herausragend besetzt sind. Neben der engagiert auftretenden Canterbury Choral Society, neben Anna Leese und Louise Poole in den Rollen der Maria und der Maria Magdalena überzeugt vor allem Roderick Williams mit geschmeidigem, klangvollem Bariton als Jesus."
