Im Schatten
Leider steht Edward Elgars großangelegtes Oratorium The Apostles (1902 / 03) heute im Schatten des kurz zuvor entstandenen The Dream of Gerontius. Dabei beeindruckt das Werk nicht nur durch eine umfangreiche Besetzung (sechs Solisten, eine üppige Instrumentation und großer Chor), sondern auch durch seine qualitätsvolle und immer inspirierte Musik. Als Petrus ist hier übrigens der junge Bryn Terfel zu hören.
