He feeds off the magic of those around him, and a woman being able to shapeshift is akin to having a death sentence in his court.

Devoted sisters Ilsette and Mina are part of that court and beautiful Mina is to be the Owl king's next bride. Ilsette is determined to save her sister from her fate. Guarding secrets of her own, she journeys to the Stag king's moorland kingdom, to trick Locryn into giving her a precious feather in his safekeeping. One that will make the Owl king invincible.

Under the two moons and scarlet stars, Ilsette befriends shadow faeries, Ellion and Nettle, and uses her exquisite singing voice to execute her sly plan. But she has reckoned without their loyalty to Locryn or how far they might go to stop her if they realise her treachery. Ilsette too knows she is faced with an impossible choice - to save her sister, or to save peace among all the realms.
