TV Smith war mit seiner Band The Adverts 1977 einer der Pioniere der ersten britischen Punkrock-Welle. Seit den 90ern ist er vornehmlich auf Solopfaden unterwegs, veröffentlicht bis heute ein Album nach dem anderen und tourt unentwegt durch ganz Europa. Er hat den Ruf eines exzellenten Texters, eines Punk-Poeten, und präsentiert seine Stücke immer öfter im Modus des klassischen Singer-Songwriters, also nur begleitet von seiner Akustikgitarre.
So auch auf seinem neuen Projekt Lockdown Holiday, das, der Name lässt es erahnen, während Corona entstanden ist und von Corona handelt. Laut TV Smith war er noch nie so nah an einem der unpunkigsten Formaten überhaupt: einem Konzeptalbum. Lockdown Holiday ist wie immer ein zutiefst lyrisches, eindringliches Werk, das im Gedächtnis bleibt.
