Sony Classical veröffentlicht zur Feier des 60. Geburtstages des Ausnahmecellisten und Weltstars der Klassik diese Edition mit herausragenden Aufnahmen klassischer Werke. Die 14 zum Teil mehrfach ausgezeichneten Einspielungen wurden von Ma selbst aus seiner Diskografie von über 80 Alben ausgewählt. Fünf der Produktionen wurden mit einem Grammy prämiert. Die Edition enthält Referenz-Aufnahmen berühmter Cellokonzerte von Dvorák , Herbert, Elgar, Walton, Saint-Saëns, Lalo, Albert, Schönberg, Barber und Briten, Tschaikowskys Rokoko-Variationen, Strauss Don Quixote, Brahms Doppelkonzert mit Issac Stern, aber auch hochgelobte Kammermusikaufnahmen (Schubert Forelle, Brahms und Beethoven Cellosonaten mit Ax und das Paris Belle Epoque Album) sowie die Mas grandiose Einspielung der Bach Cello-Suiten »Inspired by Bach« und das populäre erste »Simply Baroque« Album.
