Nachfolger zur populären »Mento, Not Calypso! The Original Sound Of Jamaica«–Compilation. Obwohl fälschlicherweise als eine Variation von Calypso abgetan, ist der jamaikanische Mento ein eigener Musikstil, der sich unabhängig vom ähnlich klingenden Calypso aus Trinidad entwickelte. Mento war nach den Kriegsjahren die beliebteste einheimische Musik, bis der Shuffle Blues seinen Siegeszug antrat und im Anschluss daran Ska sich in den Sechzigern etablierte. Mento beeinflusste die Entwicklung von Reggae maßgeblich und ist in vielen Klassikern des Reggaes hörbar. Die 2CD enthält 48 Klassiker von vielen hierzulande unbekannten Künstlern, die es zu entdecken gilt.
