Beim Hören dieser Edition kann einem ganz schön warm werden denn man merkt es sehr schnell: Jawohl – auch die Cowboys konnten rocken! Wenn auch nicht so heiß und laut wie die »echten« Rock & Roller und Rockabilly-Heroes. Aber immerhin ging es auch hier nicht ganz so gemächlich zu, wie noch in der guten alten Lagerfeuerzeit.
In dieser 10CD-BOX gibt es Original-Hits und viele echte Raritäten zu hören. Die C&W-Musik der frühen 1950er Jahre hat den Rock & Roll (und damit auch die Rockabilly-Szene) gehörig beeinflusst. Ab Mitte der 1950er Jahre wurden die C&W Interpreten allerdings mehr von den Rock & Rollern auf Trab gebracht. Erstaunlich ist es, dass einige »Schmusestars« sich als Rocker versuchten: Jim Reeves, Faron Young, Sonny James, Bobby Bare und andere sind dafür beispielhaft. Natürlich findet man hier auch die Haudegen der C&W-Musik: Johnny Cash, Hank Snow, Marvin Rainwater, Johnny Horton, Don Gibson, Buck Owens und wie sie alle heißen.
Mit dieser 10CD-Box gibt es einen sehr guten Überblick der rockigen C&W-Szene. Nicht weniger als 250 ausgesuchte Titel werden die Beine ins Schwingen bringen.
