Am 29. November 2002, dem ersten Todestag von George Harrison, versammelten sich zahlreiche Kollegen und Freunde auf der Bühne der Londoner Royal Albert Hall zu einem Konzert in Gedenken an die Musikerlegende.
Mit »Concert For George« wurde dieser Livemitschnitt erstmals 2003 veröffentlicht. 2018 wird er jetzt erneut aufgelegt, und zwar in verschiedenen Formaten.
Zu den Gästen des Abends gehörten Wegbegleiter Harrisons wie Anoushka Shankar, Jeff Lynne, Eric Clapton, Gary Brooker, Joe Brown, Tom Petty und natürlich seine ehemaligen Beatles-Kollegen Ringo Starr und Paul McCartney.
Alleine und gemeinsam performten sie an diesem Abend Songs von Harrison, den Beatles oder seiner Supergroup Traveling Wilburys, darunter Klassiker wie »While My Guitar Gently Weeps«, »Wah-Wah«, »My Sweet Lord« und »Handle With Care«.
