Unknown Mortal Orchestra sind zurück. Mit »Sex & Food« veröffentlicht die US-amerikanisch-neuseeländische Band 2018 ein neues Album, ihr mittlerweile viertes Studiowerk, der Nachfolger von »Multi-Love« aus dem Jahr 2015.Insgesamt zwölf neue Songs hat das Ensemble um Mastermind Ruben Nielson dafür im vergangenen Jahr aufgenommen, und zwar auf der ganzen Welt.
So mietete man sich in Studios in Seoul, Hanoi, Reykjavík, Mexico City, Auckland und Portland ein.
Herausgekommen ist dabei ein Album, das auch musikalisch vor Grenzen keinen Halt macht: »Sex & Food« bewegt sich gekonnt zwischen Funk, Groove, Pop und Psychedelic Rock. Nichts anderes ist man vom Unknown Mortal Orchestra gewohnt.
Wie genau das klingt, verrieten Nielson und Co. bereits Anfang des Jahres mit den Singles »American Guilt« und »Not In Love We’re Just High«, die einmal mehr ihre musikalische Vielseitigkeit unter Beweis stellen.
Neben der Standard-CD gibt es »Sex & Food« auch als klassisch-schwarze LP, als Colored Vinyl und als MC.
