Uffe Lorenzen (alias Lorenzo Woodrose) ist der Frontmann von BABY WOODROSE und SPIDS NOGENHAT, der bei diesem Projekt allerdings unter seinem bürgerlichen Namen aufnahm und zudem auf Dänisch singt. Das erste Ergebnis ist das neue Soloalbum »Galmandsværk«, das am 10. November erscheint und während eines Urlaubs auf der kleinen Vulkaninsel Gomera nahe der Küste von Marokko geplant wurde, wo er sich zum Großteil in einem kleinen Raum verschanzte und nichts anderes tat, als zehn Wochen lang neue Songs schrieb.
Uffe Lorenzen: »Ich hatte im vergangenen Winter die Gelegenheit, für ein paar Monate zu reisen und entschied mich, viel Zeit damit zu verbringen, den Ozean zu betrachten und Songs auf Dänisch zu schreiben. Ich glaube, ich habe meine eigene Methode gefunden und vielleicht sogar einen persönlicheren Blickwinkel. Ich denke immer noch, dass das Schreiben auf Dänisch eine Herausforderung darstellt, aber ich glaube, dass der ehrlichere Ausdruck eine ehrlichere Darstellung verdient, daher sollte der Name LORENZO WOODROSE, der wirklich nur für Leute außerhalb Dänemarks zwecks Aussprache gedacht war, fühlte plötzlich merkwürdig oberflächlich an «.Galmandsværk (übersetzt »Akt des Wahnsinns«) enthält zehn Lieder, die in viele Richtungen gehen und sich anhören, als ob BABY WOODROSE, SPIDS NOGENHAT und DRAGONTEARS verschmolzen sind und zu etwas Neuem wurden.
Der Sound des Albums ist überwiegend akustisch mit vielen exotischen Instrumenten wie Sitar, Tablas, Bansuri, Drehleier und Geige. Uffe Lorenzen: »Ich denke, ich bin an einem Punkt angelangt, an dem ich neue Wege finden muss, um den Prozess interessant und motivierend zu gestalten. Diesmal war das Schreiben auf Dänisch nur eine Herausforderung von vielen. Wir haben zum Großteil Akustikinstrumente verwendet und versucht die üblichen Fehler zu vermeiden, indem alle Songs mit einer einfachen Aufnahme von Gesang und Gitarre anstelle von Rockdrums und Gitarrensolos begonnen wurden und das Album zu einem ganz anderen Universum gemacht hat als alles, was ich in der Vergangenheit getan habe.« »Galmandsværk« wurde mit einem analogen Ansatz aufgenommen.
Das gesamte Album wurde auf einem Band gemischt, was bedeutet, dass kein Schneiden und Einfügen und keine Verwendung von Pro-Tools erforderlich war. Produziert wurde es von Uffe Lorenzen, Anders Onsberg und Anders Kjærsgaard im wunderschönen STC Studio in Kopenhagen und von Flemming Rasmussen in Sweet Silence gemastert.

Uffe Lorenzen (alias Lorenzo Woodrose) is the frontman of Baby Woodrose and Spids Nogenhat but from now on he will be recording and performing under his own name and be singing in Danish. The first result is the new solo album Galmandsværk, which was conceived during a vacation on the small volcanic island Gomera near the coast of Marocco where he stayed in a small room doing nothing but writing new songs for 10 weeks.
Uffe Lorenzen: »I was given the opportunity to travel for a few months last winter and decided to spend a lot of time looking at the ocean and writing songs in Danish. I think I have found my own method and perhaps even a more personal angle than before. I still think writing in Danish is a challenge, but I feel that the more honest expression deserves a more honest packaging, so the name Lorenzo Woodrose, which was really designed for people outside of Denmark to be able to pronounce my name when we started out, suddenly felt oddly superficial«.
Galmandsværk (loosely translates to »act of madness«) contains 10 songs that goes in many directions and sounds as if Baby Woodrose, Spids Nogenhat and Dragontears merged and turned into something new. The sound of the album is mostly acoustic with many exotic instruments such as sitar, tablas, bansuri, hurdy gurdy, violin and of course doses of fuzz.
Uffe Lorenzen: »I think I have reached a point where I have to find new ways to do things to keep the process interesting and motivate myself. This time, writing in Danish was just one challenge out of many, as we also tried to keep instrumentation mostly to acoustic instruments and purposefully avoided the usual pitfalls by starting all tracks with a simple recording of vocal and guitar instead of rockdrums and guitarsolos. It has taken the album to a very different universe than anything else I've done in the past.«
Galmandsværk has been recorded with an analogue approach. The whole album is recorded and mixed on tape which means no cut and paste and no use of pro-tools. The album is produced by Uffe Lorenzen, Anders Onsberg and Anders Kjærsgaard in the wonderful STC studio in Copenhagen and mastered by Flemming Rasmussen at Sweet Silence.
