Mit »On Air« präsentieren The Rolling Stones zum Jahresende ein ganz besonderes Album: Es handelt sich dabei um seltene Radio- und TV-Mitschnitte aus den Anfangstagen der Band, eine Auswahl von BBC-Sessions-Aufnahmen aus den Jahren 1963 bis 1965 sowie aus Shows wie »Saturday Club«, »Top Gear«, »Rhythm and Blues« und »The Joe Loss Pop Show«.
Insgesamt 18 Songs haben es in die Sammlung geschafft, darunter acht bislang unveröffentlichte Stücke. Mit dabei sind sowohl einige Stones-Originale als auch ein paar Coversongs, zum Beispiel von Chuck Berry, Tommy Tucker, Buster Brown und Bo Diddley.
Für »On Air« wurden alle Stücke in den legendären Londoner Abbey Road Studios aufbereitet, und zwar mit einem neuen Prozess, genannt »Demix«, anstatt des traditionellen »Multi Track Remix Master«-Prozesses.
»On Air« ist als Standard-CD und Deluxe-Doppel-CD im Digipak, als Doppel-LP sowie exklusiv bei jpc als gelbe Doppel-LP erhältlich. Natürlich nur, solange der Vorrat reicht.
Eine musikalische Retrospektive der Extraklasse: »On Air« versammelt viele erste Schritte der Rolling Stones auf einem Album.
Passend zum neuen Album gibt es mit dem Buch »On Air In The Sixties« einen illustrierten Rückblick.
