The Longshot sind das neueste Seitenprojekt von Green Day-Frontmann Billie Joe Armstrong und folgt auf Projekte wie Pinhead Gunpowder, The Network und Foxboro Hot Tubs. Die Band spielte im April 2018 ihr erstes Live-Konzert und eröffnete mit David Bowies Ziggy Stardust, was man als Standortbestimmung deuten kann. Ebenfalls mit dabei ist der Green Day Tour-Gitarrist Jeff Matika am Bass und Vocals, sowie Kevin Preston (Prima Donna, The Skulls) an der Gitarre und David S. Field (Prima Donna) an den Drums.
