»Before The Frost… Until The Freeze« erschien ursprünglich am 31. August 2009. Und obwohl es ein Studioalbum ist, wurde es Ende Februar und Anfang März 2009 vor einem Live-Publikum in Levon Helms Studio »The Barn« in Woodstock, New York aufgenommen. Paul Stacey, ein langjähriger Mitarbeiter amerikanischer Blues- und Southern-Rock-Ikonen aus Atlanta, Georgia produzierte die Platte.
»Before The Frost… Until The Freeze« ist ein Doppelalbum. Ursprünglich war nur der »Before The Frost«-Teil auf CD erhältlich, und der CD lag ein Download-Code für »Until The Freeze« bei. Es erschien auch eine Vinyl-Version, die die gleichen Songs in einer anderen Reihenfolge enthielt.
»Before The Frost… Until The Freeze« ist das bislang letzte Studioalbum der Band mit Originalmaterial. Es erreichte Platz zwölf in den US Billboard Charts.
