»In The Beginning« ist das zweite Livealbum von Stevie Ray Vaughan und Double Trouble. Während das Album ursprünglich zwei Jahre nach Vaughans Tod im Jahr 1990 veröffentlicht wurde, fand das eigentliche Konzert am 01. April 1980 im »Steamboat 1874« in Austin, Texas statt. Noch bevor die Seiden-Kimonos und schwarzen Sombreros zu seinen Markenzeichen wurden, vor seiner lodernden Performance auf dem Montreux Jazz Festival und bevor er einen Plattenvertrag erhielt. Es ist das Album eines 25-jährigen Vaughan, der noch mehr als drei Jahre von der Veröffentlichung seines ersten Studioalbums entfernt war.
