»Once Upon A Time« wurde ursprünglich im Oktober 1985 veröffentlicht und ist das Nr. 1 Album der Band Simple Minds, welches eine ganze Ära prägte. Es enthält die Hit-Singles »Alive and Kicking« und »Sanctify Yourself« die nun zusammen mit dem Rest des Albums in einem 5CD Box Set veröffentlicht werden. Die Bonus Discs enthalten Originale und Extended Versionen von »Don't You (Forget About Me)«, Single-Edits, 12"-Mixe, B-Seiten, unveröffentlichte Tracks und das »Live In The City Of Light« sowie ein 36-seitiges Booklet mit seltenen Bildern, Interviews und einem Track by Track Guide.
Außerdem erscheint das Album ebenfalls zur Feier des 40-jährigen Jubiläums als rubinrote Vinyl mit Gatefold Cover, auf der Vinyl ist auch zum ersten Mal »Don't You (Forget About Me)« auf der Tracklist zu finden und das Klappcover zeigt das berühmte Foto von Anton Corbijin, welches er 1985 von der Band bei Live Aid aufnahm.
