Shakira veröffentlicht im Abstand von gerade mal einem halben Jahr gleich zwei Longplayer: »Fijacion Oral Vol. 1« im Juni und nun »Oral Fixation Vol. 2«. Und auch das ist eine Weltneuheit: Während das erste Album ausschließlich Songs in spanischer Sprache enthielt, wird das kommende Album wieder »international« – sprich: in englisch eingesungen. Auf »Vol. 2« finden sich ausschließlich neue Shakira-Kompositionen, u.a. das Stück »Illegal«, das zusammen mit Carlos Santana entstand. Beide Alben wurden von Rick Rubin produziert.
Die Jubiläumsausgabe auf LP ist mit drei Bonus-Remixen angereichert, die Shakiras Entwicklung innovativer Rock- und Popklänge veranschaulichen.
