Produziert und arrangiert wurde es von den langjährigen Nelson- und Price-Weggefährten Fred Foster und Bergen White.
Die bewegte Geschichte von Price und Nelson geht zurück ins Jahr 1960, als Nelson als aufstrebender Singer-Songwriter nach Nashville zog. Dort unterzeichnete er einen Vertrag bei Paper Music, einem u. a. von Price geführten Verlag. Kurz darauf stieg Willie Nelson als Bassist bei The Cherokee Cowboys, der Band Ray Prices ein.
