„Dancing Undercover“ wurde 1986 veröffentlicht, als Ratt mit einer brandneuen Band namens Poison aus L. A. als Vorgruppe durch Nordamerika tourte. Die Lead-Single „Dance“ landete in den Billboard Hot 100 und brachte mit „Slip Of The Lip“ einen weiteren Musikvideo-Hit hervor, während „Body Talk“ in einer Schlüsselszene des Eddie Murphy-Films „Das goldene Kind“ zu hören war. „Dancing Undercover“ wurde RATTs drittes Platin-Album in Folge und erreichte Platz 26 der Billboard Top 200.
Das Album enthält die klassische Besetzung mit Stephen Pearcy (Gesang), Warren DeMartini (Gitarre), Robbin Crosby (Gitarre), Juan Croucier (Bass / Gesang) und Bobby Blotzer (Schlagzeug) und ist jetzt auf CD und in einer limitierten Auflage auf rot-schwarz-weiß gestreiftem Vinyl erhältlich.
