Pünktlich zu ihrem 20. Geburtstag wurden nun auch Placebo in den MTV-Unplugged-Olymp aufgenommen. »Placebo: MTV Unplugged« zeigt die britische Rockband aus einer völlig neuen musikalischen Perspektive. So hat man sie noch nie zuvor gesehen bzw. gehört.

Placebos akustischer Karriererückblick
Zu ihrem 20. Bandjubiläum wurden Placebo mit einem ganz besonderen Konzert geadelt: einem MTV Unplugged. Die Konzertreihe des Musiksenders bringt seit 1989 regelmäßig die größten Pop- und Rockgruppen der Welt dazu, »den Stecker zu ziehen« und ihre Songs akustisch und ohne großes Drumherum darzubieten.
Aufgenommen wurde das Konzert am 19. August 2015 in ihrer Heimatstadt London, wo die Band 1995 ihren ersten Auftritt überhaupt absolvierte.
Mit »Placebo: MTV Unplugged« entschieden sich Brian Molko und Co. passend zu ihrem Jubiläum für einen musikalischen Rückblick auf 20 Jahre Placebo. So ist das 17 Songs umfassende Album ein Querschnitt ihres gesamten Schaffens.
Mit dabei sind unter anderem die Singles »Song To Say Goodbye«, »Meds«, »Every You Every Me« und der Song »Bosco«, den Placebo selbst im Original bisher nie live gespielt haben. Als ersten Vorgeschmack auf das Album erschien bereits im Oktober der Mitschnitt von »The Bitter End«.
Für »Placebo: MTV Unplugged« hat die Band diese Songs nun »dezimiert« und damit gewissermaßen neu erforscht und interpretiert. So zeigen sie eine ganz neue Seite, denn tatsächlich ist es das erste reine Akustikalbum ihrer Karriere.
Den Mitschnitt des Konzertes gibt es nun auf CD, DVD, Blu-ray, im Set als Doppel-CD plus DVD, als Doppel-LP auf Vinyl sowie in der Limited Edition als Doppel-Picture-Disc-LP.
Pünktlich zu ihrem 20. Geburtstag erscheint endlich das langerwartete »Placebo: MTV Unplugged«. Das wurde aber auch Zeit! Ein Grund zur Freude für die Band, vor allem aber für ihre Fans.
