Bevor Paul Rodgers mit Bad Company durchstartete und zahlreiche große Erfolge feierte, spielte der Sänger und Musiker bereits in anderen Bands. Dazu gehören auch die legendären Free, die von 1968 bis 1973 bestanden.
Im letzten Jahr widmete sich Rodgers erneut dem Werk dieser Combo, und zwar auf der Bühne der Londoner Royal Albert Hall.
»Free Spirit« heißt der Mitschnitt des Abends, eine mitreißende Reise in die Vergangenheit.

The Blu-Ray was developed as a high-definition successor to the DVD and offers a significantly increased data rate and storage capacity compared to its predecessor. Blu-Rays can therefore store movies with significantly better resolution and offer enormously high picture quality on corresponding screens. Das Konzert wurde in Bild und Ton festgehalten und erscheint nun auf Quarto Valley Records. Insgesamt 16 Songs darunter die großen Hits von Free »All Right Now«, »Wishing Well« und »Fire and Water« sowie weitere Klassiker und sogar Songs die Free in den siebziger Jahren nie Live gespielt haben wie »Love You So« und »Catch a Train« gehören zum Programm dieses jetzt schon legendären Abends. Paul Rodgers gilt als einer der größten Rock-Sänger aller Zeiten. Für Eric Clapton ist »Paul Rodgers the real deal« während Robert Plant neidlos anerkennt »Paul Rodgers is the voice of all British voices«.
Paul Rodgers war Co-Founder und Haupt-Songwriter von Free, schrieb Rock-Geschichte mit The Firm und Bad Company und verkaufte mit diesen Bands über 90 Millionen Tonträger.

When Free came together there was a creative magic around us, something unique and different. I felt again the strength of that magic on the 2017 Free Spirit Tour.
