The Nix ist das neue Projekt von Nick McCarthy (Franz Ferdinand) und Seb Kellig (Dub-Produzent für LaBrassBanda). Zusammen mit einer Vielzahl an Vokalisten nahmen sie in ihrem East-Londoner Sausage Studio für Moshi Moshi ihr Debütalbum mit 12 Tropical- und Reggae-angehauchten Gitarren-Pop-Songs auf.
Zu den Gastsänger*innen zählen u.a. Laetitia Sadier (Stereolab), KT Tunstall und Vula Malinga (Basement Jaxx). Einer der Keysongs des Albums, »Until Now, All Is Well« mit Stereolab-Sängerin Laetitia Sadier, basiert auf der Originalkomposition »Warm Canto« des US-Jazz-Pianisten Mal Waldron.
