»Chance« erschien erstmals 1980 und war das zehnte Studioalbum von Manfred Mann's Earth Band. Jetzt gibt es das in London und Portugal aufgenommene
Werk als Vinyl-Re-Release. Schon bevor Manfred Mann (eigentlich Manfred Sepse Lubowitz) große Erfolge mit seiner Earth Band feierte, gelangen ihm mit
der Vorgängerband, die schlicht und einfach auch Manfred Mann hieß, schon Hits wie »Pretty Flamingo« oder »Do Wah Diddy Diddy«.
Mit der Earth Band
wurde der Sound dann rockiger und kantiger, vor allem im direkten Vergleich zu den Beat-Stücken der Anfangszeit. Ein schöner Beweis dafür: »Chance« von
1980, auf dem sich neben Eigenkompositionen auch ein Cover eines Bruce Springsteen Songs (»For You«) versteckt.
