Die beiden Alben wurden ursprünglich in den Jahren 1969 und 1970 auf dem Label ATCO veröffentlicht.
»Ball« war der Nachfolger zu »In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida«, das 140 Wochen in den US Album Charts war. »Ball« enttäuschte nicht, erreichte Platz 3 der Album Charts, blieb dort für beinahe 1 Jahr und brachte den Hit »Soul Experience« hervor.
»Metamorphosis« schaffte es in die Top 20, der Hit daraus war »Easy Rider«.
Iron Butterfly gibt es als Band immer noch, doch das Line-up ist stark verändert.
