Das letzte Album, eine Hommage
»Southern Blood« heißt das neue und gleichzeitig letzte Studioalbum von Gregg Allman. Der Musiker verstarb im Mai 2017.»Southern Blood« ist der Nachfolger von »Low Country Blues« aus dem Jahr 2011 und wurde Anfang des Jahres in den legendären Fame Studios in Muscle Shoals, Atlanta zusammen mit Starproduzent Don Was aufgenommen.
Insgesamt zehn Songs warten auf dem neuen Album, darunter vor allem Coverversionen, zum Beispiel von Bob Dylan, Jackson Browne, Jerry Garcia und Willie Dixon. Mit »My Only True Friend« gibt es auf »Southern Blood« außerdem ein Gregg-Allman-Original.
Neben der Standard-CD und einer LP-Version gibt es »Southern Blood« zudem als Deluxe-Edition. Diese enthält das Album und zwei zusätzliche Songs sowie eine Bonus-DVD.
Das letzte Album der Rocklegende: »Southern Blood« ist Gregg Allmans Hommage an seine großen Kollegen und Freunde.
