Feeding the Monkees

Frank Zappa kann man nur phantastisch finden oder völlig uninteressant ! Dazwischen gibt es nichts, und diese Platte ist eine von der Sorte, die den Zugang zu seiner Musik zumindest nicht unmöglich macht !

Enormes kompositorisches Potential

Mit "Jazz from Hell" hatte der Komponist auf eine Maschine, die voller Musikschnipsel ist, Synklavier genannt, zurückgegriffen. So konnte er seine Kompositionen zu gehör bringen, ohne auf unwillige Orchester(musiker) angewiesen zu sein. Wem Jazz from Hell gut gefallen hat, der kann hier einige weitere Kompositionen Zappas hören, wie sie der Meister selbst in die Maschine geprügelt hat.
Eigentlich ziehe ich nur deshalb einen Punkt ab, weil, wenn man Zappas Synklavierkompositionen vom Ensemble Modern gespielt gehört hat, dann will man lieber das hören. Ich denke, die Aufführungen dieses großartigen Frankfurter Ensembles kommen Zappas kompositorischen Vorstellungen am nächsten.
