Dogrel, das sind die derben Reime der irischen Docks, Fabriken und »early houses«. Die Lyrik des einfachen Mannes. Mehr Brendan Behan als Bono. Dogrel ist auch Rock and Roll. In seiner besten Form. Rotzig und wütend. Aber eben auch sehnsuchtsvoll und romantisch.
Aufgenommen im Herbst letzten Jahres mit Produzent Dan Carey (auch Kate Tempest), zieht sich eine Prämisse wie ein roter Faden durch das Album: gelebte Authentizität. Fontaines D.C. konnten schon im letzten Jahr auf sich aufmerksam machen, mit »einem ganzen Bataillon toller Singles« (musikexpress), und sind für viele schon jetzt der Newcomer 2019.
