»Sparkle and Fade« aus dem Jahr 1995 war das zweite Album der Band Everclear und ihr erstes beim Label Capitol Records. Verantwortlich für den Plattenvertrag war Gary Gersh, der bereits Nirvana, Sonic Youth und die Counting Crows bei DGC Records untergebracht hatte. Während die erste Singleauskopplung »Heroin Girl« zwar bei MTV lief, aber ansonsten weitestgehend unter dem Radar des Mainstream blieb, wurde die zweite Single »Santa Monica« zum Hit.
Das Remastering für Intervention Records übernahm Kevin Gray. Die LP mit 33 1 / 3 RPM wurde auf 180-Gramm-Vinyl gepresst und erscheint im stabilen Gatefoldcover.
