Deb Demures kraftvolle Präsenz und ihr hypnotischer Sound haben die Identität von Drab Majesty fest definiert. Nach der Veröffentlichung des Debütalbums »Careless« teilten sich Drab Majesty die Zeit zwischen Tourneen und Studios auf, um die Ideen für das Nachfolgealbum »The Demonstration« zusammenzusetzen, ein Album, das Deb Demure nur als einen Teil von Drab Majestys Gesamtwesen und Erzählung darstellt.
Beginnend mit dem Instrumental »Induction« schafft Drab Majesty eine ätherische Kulisse, auf die der Rest des Albums folgt. Tracks wie »Dot In The Sky« und »39 By Design« (ein Song, der auf den Weltuntergangskult von Heaven's Gate verweist) nutzen einen üppigen Shoegaze-Ansatz, um die Zerbrechlichkeit des menschlichen Selbstverlusts darzustellen, der nur noch im Himmel nach Antworten sucht.
»Cold Souls« führt Drab Majestys arpeggierte Fingerpicking-Signatur fehlerfrei aus, komplett mit verwaschenen Geräuschen und atmosphärischem Hall. Mit der Hinzufügung von Mona D. zu Drab Majestys mysteriösem Portfolio, erschaffen die Songs von The Demonstration mit jedem Hören neue Bedeutungen und Tiefe. Nachdem Drab Majesty The Demonstration mit »Behind The Wall« abschließen, fragt man sich, was für eine Identität sie wirklich haben.
