Doe Paoro ist der Künstlername der aus Syracuse, New York, stammenden, mittlerweile in Los Angeles lebenden Sängerin, Komponistin und Künstlerin Sonia Kreitzer. Im Anschluss an einige Singles brachte sie 2012 die selbstveröffentlichte LP »Slow To Love« heraus, die ihr ein größeres Publikum und Vergleiche mit Fiona Apple, James Blake, Adele und Lykke Li einbrachten.
2015 schob sie das von der Kritik stark gefeierte Album »After« hinterher. An diesem hatte sie mit Größen wie Justin Veron (Bon Iver), Sean Carey und BJ Burton (Tallest Man on Earth, Sylvan Esso) zusammengearbeitet. Doe Paoros gefühlvoller Sound vereinte elektronischen Pop, R&B und Soul zu einer beruhigend-berührenden Melange, die ihre Zuhörenden vollkommen in Bann zog. Wie auch »After« erscheint das emotionale dritte Album »Soft Power« bei Anti.
Die Platte wurde in London von Jimmy Hogarth (Amy Winehouse, Sia, Corinne Bailey Rae) produziert und dürfte insbesondere Fans von Florence and the Machine, St. Vincent und Sky Ferreira ansprechen. Inhaltlich ist »Soft Power« davon geprägt, Schmerz und Frustration in positive Gefühle zu überführen. »One thing I've continued to find through writing songs is the ability to alchemize painful experiences into something that's useful and healing«, bestätigt die Künstlerin.
