Derrick Morgan ist eine Ska-Ikone und ein Pionier des »Skinhead Reggae«. Mit einem reichen, tiefen Tenor gesegnet, mit dem er seine cleveren und oft humorvollen Texte sang, wurde Morgan in der Musikszene Kingstons durch die regelmäßigen Talent-Wettbewerbe von Vere Johns bekannt und nahm in den 1960er Jahren zahlreiche Hits für Produzenten wie Simeon Smith, Duke Reid oder Clement »Sir Coxsone« Dodd auf.
»Hop Moon« erschien ursprünglich 1969 als Ode an die Mondlandung von Apollo 11. Das Album gibt es nun zum 50. Jahrestag erstmals auf CD, zusammen mit dem im selben Jahr veröffentlichten Album »In London« und insgesamt 24 Bonustracks!
